"Victoria amazonica" is one of the largest aquatic plants in the world. ๐Ÿ’ It is a species of flowering plant and the second largest plant in the "Nymphaeaceae" family of water lilies. It is native to the oxbow lakes of Guyana and the Amazon river basin in South America. 

  

The striking feature of this Victoria amazonica plant is that it has very large leaves. They are called "pads" or "lily pads." This plant's flower buds begin to bloom as the sun begins to set and take forty-eight hours to fully open. The flower is white and fragrant when it blooms on the first night. On the second night, it turns pink and the smell gradually diminishes. A flower has a diameter of 40cm and can grow up to 1.6kg in weight. Also, scarab beetles help pollinate the flower.

 
             

Also, the leaves of this plant are round and uoright. It is supported by a ribbed underside and appears anchored to a submerged stem. Leaves are floating on the surface of the water. The stems of this leaf can be uo up to 26 feet long. The underside of the leaf is copper-red. There are also sharp spines on the stem and the underside of the leaves. This sheet is usually 6 inches long and 6 inches wide. Also, a full-grown lily pad can carry an adult weighing 60 to 70kg. 
Also, the flower of this plant is used to cure many diseases. They are as follows.๐Ÿ’

  • Specially used to cure various diseases including infkammation of various organs like kidney, uterus and intestine.
  • These flowers have also been used to cure diseases such as fever and insomnia.
  • Also, this white lily flower is applied directly to the skin for ulcers, redness and swelling (inflammation), burns and wounds. 
  • Also, many women use white lilies to cure diseases related to the reproductive system.
  • Also, white lilies are used to stop bleeding, cure coughs and lung infections, etc.

 ๐Ÿง‘‍๐Ÿซ Mahinda Prasad Masimbula. ๐Ÿง‘‍๐Ÿซ Mr. Mahinda Prasad Masimbula is sometimes known as a poet, sometimes as a copywriter and sometimes as a poet and a novelist. He is known as a talented author specially because of the Senkottan, Apoyyawa, Manikkawatha, Hiruth hima piyalleka, Ahipiyan aherala as  wonderful novels written by him. Among them, books such as "Ahipiyan Aherala" are like mirrors that show the old social conditions, culture and beauty of this country. He has worked professionally as an assistant director and screenwriter in 2009 and 2010. He gained recognition as a novelist with his first novel "Senkottan". The Senkottan novel portrays a tearful story in a dark corner of the feudal period in Sri Lanka.  Also, Mr. Mahinda Prasad Masimbula also won the " The Rajya Sahithya award" for the best novel in 2012.
