Jackfruit is a hearty meal eaten by the ancients of this country instead of rice.πŸ˜‹ It can be eaten at all stages of its life and they are known by different names. Sometimes when taken as a fruit it is eaten as "waraka" and when taken as a vegetable it is eaten as "Polos Ambula."  Also, in recent years it has become very popular in the western diet not only because of its nutritional content, but also because it is an incredible fake meat substitute for BBQ, pork, etc. Also, this polos curry is a Sri Lankan vegetarian curry.🀎

Let's see how to make this "Polos Ambula,"  which is famous among Sri Lankans.

  • First, clean and wash the polos and cut them into squares. 
  • Put some salt power in a quantity of water and add the pieces of polos and boil it.
  • Put some pieces of sorghum in boiling hot water and let it steep for 20 minutes and grind it into a paste.
  • Finely grind ginger, garlic and pepper and add to the above goraka mixture.
  • Heat some oil and add mustard seeds to it when it splutters and add salt. keep stirring for a while.
  • Add curry leaves, rampya leaves, green chillies to this. Then add the snort mixture we made above and saute for a minute.




Nutritional properties of Polos as a food,☝️

  • It is very suitable for lactating mothers with new bron babies to eat polos. Consuming polos increases milk production. The uterus is cleansed.
  • Regular consumption of polos can cure skin.
  • Polos can be used to develop physical strength and malnutrition can also be prevented.
  • Polos is able to heal stomach diseases and intestinal wounds.
  • The properties of polos are also able to cure skin infections like pus cysts in the body.
  • Specially, polos also helps restore the blood platelet count in a person suffering from dengue.
  • It is also suitable for people with diabetes.
