πŸ’•  A brief description about Kosgoda town. πŸ’•


Kosgoda is a small town in the Galle district, southern province, Sri Lanka. It is situated on on the southwestern coast of Sri Lanka, approximately 50 Km north of Galle and 76 Km south of Colombo. 

Kosgoda town is specially famous for turtle nesting areas. Also, 5 of theo 7 species of turtles on the local coast live in this city. In 1981 a turtle hatchery was established to protect the eggs of sea turtles that lay their eggs on the beaches.





Apart from this, Kosgoda town is  famous for its beautiful beaches, Kosgoda river and traditional fishing industry. Also, home to a number of Hotels, Villa and small guesthouses, this city is another one of the most beautiful and favourite places to stay for tourists.

Also , the local economy of this city is largely dependent on fishing industry, tourism industry and coconut, cinnamon related products. Kosgoda town in particular is known to be home to several small-scale factories producing coconut-related products.


Also, this city, which has a long history of Buddhist pilgrimage, has nearly eighty temples. Among these, the most notable temple is the Kosgoda Rajamaha Viharaya, a buddhist Rajamaha temple dating back to the 16th century.

In recent years, Kosgoda has become a popular destination for eco-tourism. In addition to its turtle hatchery, the town also offers opportunities for bird watching, canoeing and other outdoor activities. The nearby beaches and forests are home to a variety of wildlife.

 πŸ§‘‍🏫 Mahinda Prasad Masimbula. πŸ§‘‍🏫 Mr. Mahinda Prasad Masimbula is sometimes known as a poet, sometimes as a copywriter and sometimes as a poet and a novelist. He is known as a talented author specially because of the Senkottan, Apoyyawa, Manikkawatha, Hiruth hima piyalleka, Ahipiyan aherala as  wonderful novels written by him. Among them, books such as "Ahipiyan Aherala" are like mirrors that show the old social conditions, culture and beauty of this country. He has worked professionally as an assistant director and screenwriter in 2009 and 2010. He gained recognition as a novelist with his first novel "Senkottan". The Senkottan novel portrays a tearful story in a dark corner of the feudal period in Sri Lanka.  Also, Mr. Mahinda Prasad Masimbula also won the " The Rajya Sahithya award" for the best novel in 2012.  πŸ§‘‍🎨 Lowland paintings of the Kandy period. πŸ§‘‍🎨 During the period of the Mahanuwara kingdoms, this art spread in the lowland areas of the island, specially in the southern and western provinces. As a result of the enthusiasm of Sangharaja Thero for his students to establish and maintain Buddhist temples in the lowlands, this art of painting spread to the lowlands. This art that spread in the pahatara areas has elements similar to the paintings of the uplands. But there are also notable differences.
